Monsterboy Lives
Monsterboy Lives was founded in 2017 at Bonnaroo, by multi-instrumentalist composer Chris Long. The festival was so inspiring, he wrote half an album at the campsite. Before the project even had a name, a journalist for MTV.com discovered him while walking by and featured him in the article titled Bonnaroo At The End Of The World.
Six months into the project’s development, his wife Veronica Wirges joined him on stage to play as a duo for a trip down to Austin during SXSW. The addition of the saxophones completed the sound and opened up new possibilities for sound design. By using an eclectic array of instrumentation for the duo’s wide range of influences, their voice is a unique one, all their own. The vibe is wholly American, a melting pot of sounds from all over the world and crafted into indie-pop.
In 2019 the duo revisited Austin for shows during SXSW, along with a selection of local and regional gigs. At the beginning of 2020, the project played the Arkansas Times Musician’s Showcase, The Arkansas Festival and Events Association Conference, and had appearances scheduled all across the state.
During 2020 the project performed over 60 live streams, reaching as many as 7,000 viewers per night. The duo is currently working on a collaboration project with 10 Arkansas musicians to create an album of songs born out of the tumultuous and ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
