Veronica Bio
Veronica Wirges played saxophone throughout her teens, and even picked up piano, but took time off of the musical side of art to develop her visual arts skills. As a visual artist, she continually works with unconventional mediums, so when the opportunity arose, lighting and stage design came naturally to Veronica. She worked with Chris as part of a troupe of creatives to put on productions that focused on inclusion and self expression, leading to reaccuring events and playing some of the largest music events the state had to offer.
Returning back to live performances in 2018, Veronica returned to her love of playing music by taking the stage beside her long time creative partner, Chris. In the project Monsterboy, she is able to explore various genres and methodologies of playing saxophone, keys, as well as learning kalimba. She achieved her long time dream in 2019 of becoming the owner of a rare bass saxophone from the 1920s.
Over the last few years she has helped shape the direction of entertainment by being an active member of the Arkansas Festival and Events Association, and was added to the 2020 Arts on Tour roster through the Arkansas Arts Council. She has developed a keynote speaker program for high schools and colleges in 2021, discussing the value of continuing music beyond academia, a personal message considering that she stopped playing saxophone for 21 years before returning. Veronica is a Sally Williams Grant recipient, an Artist, Inc. fellow, and has just been selected as a Peer Facilitator with Artist Inc in the Spring of 2021.
